TMI: Tim talks BCS and Big Ten, Mike talks BCS too

TMI from Tim

BCS
It's too early to care about the BCS, right? I can't really disagree except for one thing stuck out to me. Once again, Boise St. is going to get the shaft. Did you notice how Stanford needed overtime to beat USC? I know it was @ USC, but it doesn't matter. They apparently have the next #1 overall pick and needed overtime. Doesn't matter though apparently because they leap frogged Boise St. in the BCS standings making it practically impossible for Boise St. to make the title game, AGAIN. Why would you even go to Boise St. knowing that you'll always be looked down on as garbage?

And what's with this "if you're going to lose, lose early" bullshit? Oklahoma is already back in the hunt to get back into the title game. Oregon is already ranked 8th in the BCS again. Yet Kansas St (I know, they got waxed) is hovering around 15th. This weekend we have a chance to watch what could be one of the greatest games of the year in LSU vs. Alabama. I'm already wondering what happens to the team that loses. Are they behind Oklahoma because they lost recently? I think it's bum talk. I don't have a solution on how to fix it yet, except for the obvious suggestion of a playoff. Don't worry, Congress will help us with that (#FML).

Big Ten
I read an article this week about "Who is the favorite in the Big Ten?" If you're anything like me you're still pissed off about the conference calling the divisions "Leaders" and "Legends" that you haven't even thought about the new title game. I digress.

Let me ask a couple questions of you, though.

1) Do you think Penn State will lose 2 of 3 games versus Nebraska, @ Ohio State, and @Wisconsin?
2) Do you think Ohio State will win out versus Indiana, @ Purdue, Penn State, and @ Michigan?

If you answered "yes" to both, then Ohio State is playing in the Big Ten title game.

A couple more questions....

1) Can Michigan really keep winning with this tough 4 game stretch to finish the season?
2) Will Nebraska lose again?

If you answered "no" to both of these, then Nebraska is in the title game.

If I'm being honest and only slightly biased, I think you'll see Ohio State make a serious push to make the title game. They've already shown that they can hang with Nebraska. Don't give up on OSU friends.

TMI from Mike

Why I don’t give a damn about the BCS...

First and foremost it is too early.  I can get all up in arms about Stanford leapfrogging Boise State and needing overtime against lowly USC.  But in reality, it doesn’t even matter.  If it were not Stanford, it would have been a one-loss [insert team from a major conference] based on some strength of schedule argument.

Fact of the matter is, it is too early. LSU and Alabama is this week, Oklahoma State still has to face off with Oklahoma, and Stanford still has to contend with Oregon. We have seen this song and dance before. We thought maybe it would be different this year.  But who were really kidding.  Boise State does not stand a chance. Until they get a seat at the table, they will never have a chance.

The reason it is too early to care about the BCS is that not until the end of the season will I know who has once again stolen the Bronco’s chance to compete for the ultimate prize in college football. One thing I know for sure though is barring some unforeseen collapse of all of the major conference teams is that some one loss, or even two loss major conference teams will be facing off once again to decide it all. Lets just hope Boise doesn’t let the BCS gods off the hook with some bogus end of the year let-down.
